Alejandro Aranda is a Pomona, California-born singer, guitarist, and pianist known to audiences worldwide as the runner-up on Season 17 of American Idol — the only contestant in the show's history to perform seven original songs during the competition. Recording under the name Scarypoolparty, Aranda has built a genre-defying catalog that moves fluidly between folk, pop, and experimental rock, anchored by his intricate fingerstyle guitar work and haunting vocal harmonies. His discography includes Exit Form, Doom Hologram, The Act of Forgiveness — a 21-track double album featuring orchestral arrangements by Emmy and Tony-winning composer Rob Mathes — and his most recent release, Farewell Superstar (2025). Beyond his solo work, Aranda also performs with the metal supergroup Seven Hours After Violet alongside System of a Down's Shavo Odadjian. Since his breakout on national television, he has headlined sold-out venues and played major festivals including Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits.
